Streaming Services

Streaming services are the new big thing when it comes to entertainment. They are different to traditional channels like the BBC or Sky channels since they with streaming services such as Amazon Prime, Netflix or even BBC iPlayer. You can catch up on TV or watch new shows and movies on DEMAND. Demand is the key here when it comes to the success of streaming services.

Have you ever watched a tv show and missed it out on one weekend? With platforms such as Netflix, you can go back to catch up or watch the whole series on demand. The types of content all streaming platforms desire for are mainly series such as The Grand Tour on Amazon Prime, Mandalorian on Disney+, Stranger Things on Netflix. Not only this but films are also desired for such as Extraction on Netflix.

You might be wondering why have I named these specific titles. This is because they desire series to keep customers coming back and also the films to be “exclusive”. These series that I have named are all exclusive to their streaming platform. This means if a user wanted to watch the new Grand Tour series and they have Netflix. They will need to purchase Amazon Prime in order to watch the Grand Tour.

According to the BBC at (https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-52211207), exclusivity sells the platforms. For example, the new Mandalorian series was marketed extraordinarily well and competitive. This made many people wanted to watch this series and hence over 50 million people subscribed to the Disney+ streaming platform just for the Mandalorian.

In these products, they are interesting since they are original and exclusive. Extraction was a big hit film exclusive to Netflix which was original and well made with a unique colour grade and long 12 minute almost one take action sequences which never disappointed. This makes the movie fun and engaging for the audience as it keeps them on their toes at what is going to happen next. This film is aimed at higher teenagers since the level of gore is quite high. Not only this but they decided to end the movie ambiguously to keep the viewer somewhat loyal if they decide to make a sequel.

To watch movies, I say it is more enjoyable to watch it alone however for TV series, it is also more enjoyable to watch it in a group.
